My Pause For Power Moment For This Morning…

I am taking some time this morning to follow the advice of one of my most treasured friends, Richa Badami. Richa has a theory, I guess you’d call it, that she calls Pausing for Power. Pausing for Power means taking time to reflect, to breathe, to slow everything down and regroup…regain that power within you when everything goes sideways. Today I am letting you in on my Pause for Power moment…but jut this once!

I’ve gotten to a place in my life where things are just not where I would like them to be. We all go through these times, of course, but mine has been an extended stay. I feel like one of those little super bouncy balls we used to play with as kids; you know the ones where you bounce it as hard as you can and then it takes you 15 minutes just to find where the ding-dang thing ended up! I’m still bouncing…waiting for the day I finally land quietly somewhere and someone finds me. I just hope they don’t bounce me again!

I’ve always said that failure is meant to be a learning experience. A lot of the greats have failed…but what makes them great is that they never gave up. That’s a tough concept to hold on to when you’re in the middle of the failure part. Faith tells me I’ll be alright on the other end of it all, but right now God’s telling me to put on my big girl pants and suck it up. Do you think it’s true that God never gives us more than we can handle? I know it’s a catchy saying that travels well on Facebook memes, but what do you really think?

Here’s what I think…I think that God always has more faith in us than we do in Him. This happens, not because we are bad people, but because He is God and we are not. I think sometimes God let’s us get really close to our breaking point to see what we’re going to do…I have always told my children that we have two choices in life, turn towards God or turn away from Him. That pretty much covers every decision you will ever have to make in life. So, when we come to moments when life just gets “too hard” we can overcome simply by turning to God.

Isaiah 45:22 tells us “”Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.” (The Holy Bible,New International Version) He tells us right there that there is no other…not drugs or alcohol…turning to other people or food for comfort…there simply is no other. God calls us to Him during dark times and then tells us in Isaiah 43:1-2 when speaking to Jacob, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! 2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you.…” God promises to protect us…if only we turn to him! I challenge you to find a friend who, at any moment of any hour of any day would drop everything they are doing for the entire universe just to sit with you, hold you, comfort you in your time of need, and somehow let you know that even though life is difficult at this very moment…it will get better.

That is my Pause for Power moment for today and I have to say, I feel much better having shared it with each of you. In this world of social media where some try to make their lives seem picture perfect, I find that being authentic is the better road for me. Everyone has difficult times and sometimes when we share those difficulties it is an opportunity to help others who may be going through something similar. I hope my Pause for Power moment has inspired you to take a few moments of your own for reflection and introspection. Quiet moments are a good thing.

Peace and love to you and yours on this beautiful, inspiring day!
